beBelgian Division 1

Since the joint Belgian-Dutch CEHL (formerly the BeNe League) folded, Division 1 has been Belgium's top competition from 2026/27 — 11 teams, including HYC Herentals' second team and two clubs from Luxembourg.

Antwerp (Deurne) — founded in 1972, Belgian champion three years in a row from 2001 to 2003; plays at the IJsbaan Ruggeveld rink.

Liège — founded in 1997, the unofficial successor of ten-time champion Cercle des Patineurs Liégeois; Belgian champion in 2025/26, plays at the Patinoire de Liège.

Charleroi (Wallonia) — the French-speaking club Red Roosters Olympique Charleroi with its own hockey academy; home games at the rink in Montignies-sur-Sambre.

Hasselt (Limburg) — founded on 6 January 1972, part of the merged club Limburg One from 2016 to 2019; plays at the De Schaverdijn rink.

HYC Herentals
Herentals — founded in 1971, won its first Belgian title in 1981; played in the BeNe League/CEHL from 2015 to 2026 and also fields a second team, HYC Herentals 2, in Division 1 in 2026/27.

Mechelen — the elite team (formerly the Golden Sharks) was formed in 2016 and played in the BeNe League/CEHL from 2018 to 2026; the club also runs three women's teams and plays at the Ice Skating Center Mechelen.
